OUR HISTORY

LT.DOUGLAS S IRVINE

Douglas S Irvine, enlisted in the US Navy in 1972 and served a decade saying yes to any opportunity. In 2017, LT Doug Irvine set out to make a difference in the lives of youth throughout the South Bay Area by founding a division of the USNSCC thus providing the tools, resources and support they would need in order to shape them into the leaders of tomorrow.

He founded South Bay Coastal Division, in early 2017, earning its commission by USNSCC National Headquarters on September 5th, 2017.  South Bay Coastal Division has earned awards for Drill and Ceremony, as well as an award-winning Color Guard team and recognized nationally as a top unit.

The Unit is committed to continuing the vision of LT Doug Irvine in serving the community, and bettering our cadets. We offer our Cadets learning opportunities and insights into the traditions and roles of the US Navy, US Marine Corps, and US Coast Guard.  After his passing in 2020, we commissioned the TS Douglas Irvine in his honor.

We encourage our cadets to constantly better themselves and develop their leadership traits so that they can build a better future for themselves and their community.
